Joel Pollack - A Dearly Missed Friend
May 17,1964 - May 24,1998
On May 24,1998, the Long Island Insurance Community suffered a tragic
loss when Joel Pollack, just 34 years old, was tragically killed by a drunk driver.
After graduating Syracuse University in the Spring of 1986, Joel began his insurance career as a commercial underwriting
trainee at the Aetna Casualty and Surety Company's branch office in Garden City. After completing a successful
five year stint with Aetna, Joel joined his father's firm as a commercial lines producer. With respect for, but
the need to be independent of his Dad, Joel left the firm to make his own "mark" on the industry. He
achieved this in a relatively short time. Rising through the Chairs of the independent Insurance Agents Association
of Queens and Kings counties and bringing with him the same dedication, perseverance and integrity that won him
so many loyal and trusting clients, had he lived, Joel would have been installed as President Elect in June of
1998. Joel also found time to serve the insurance community as former Chairman of the Young Agents Committee of
the independent Insurance Agents Association of New York.
In the brief time he was with us, Joel left his indelible and positive imprint on our industry. We are proud
to have known Joel and we will miss him.
In his honor, the LIIC will be making a special donation to Mother's Against Drunk Driving (MADD). |
