Honoring Joel Pollack

Joel Stephen Pollack was the time of his death on May 24, 1998 at the hands of a drunk driver, Second vice President of The Independent Insurance Agent's Association of Queens and Kings Counties. A more dedicated, concerned, and caring person one could not hope to meet. In addition to his tireless efforts on a professional level and on behalf of his fellow Insurance Agent, Joel lived a truly full and fulfilling life. As the Insurance industry has sought to Honor his life, and preserve his memory through the establishment of awards and Scholarship Programs, so too have his friends and family sought to honor him by establishing a charitable foundation.

The JSP Foundation was established by the Seibel and Pollack family as a way to keep Joel's spirit alive, and to continue the good works he had begun in his all to brief time here on earth. Joel was dedicated to helping improve and enhance the lives if underprivileged inner-city children. During his lifetime Joel was a regular contributor to such organizations; and the JSP Foundation hopes to distribute funds raised at their various events in grant form to programs which provide inner city children with positive alternatives and life enhancing activities. Specifically targeted will be those programs which focus on music and books for children.

On Saturday, November 6, 1999 the JSP Foundation held it's final fund-raiser of 1999. A Gala musical Tribute Honoring the life of Joel Stephen Pollack held at Schimmel Center for the Arts at Pace University New York Campus. Performing at the event were the Sunny Daze, a singing group formed by Susan Seibel, Joel's mother back in the 1970's and reunited to perform at the tribute; Paula Seibel, a classically trained opera singer, and Joel's sister Jill an enormously talented and energetic pop vocalist; as well as several guest musicians all of whom volunteered their time for this very worthwhile cause. Also performing that evening were members of the All Stars Talent Network; an organization who was the first recipient of a grant from the JSP Foundation.

A reception was held at the conclusion of the musical performances for the over four hundred attendees of the event.

IIAAQ&KC will keep our members abreast of JSP Foundation events as they are scheduled for the new millennium through our Community News section of Citylines. If you would like additional information on the JSP foundation please visit their web site at WWW.JOELPOLLACK.COM
