The result of the sentencing of the driver (who will be known here as Miss X)
is 1680 hours of community service for the Police Academy League working with underpriveledged children, in lieu
of one year in jail. That time must be fulfilled over a three-year period with a maximum of 560 hours completed
each year. As a condition of the sentence, Miss X must also abstain from alcohol and submit to a chemical tests verifying that, as well as completing
the treatment program she is already in, all of which will be monitored by the Amercian Red Cross.
If you are interested in reading Ricky Pollack or Jill Pollack's address to the court and to Miss X click the links above. This may help you get an
understanding as to why our family opted for community service rather than jail time. In addition, we'd like to
add that following the sentencing Ricky and Jill had a moment to speak with Miss
X privately which just confirmed to us that we made the right decision
in not seeking jail time and which brought "some" closure to the family.
